Another Diaper Cake

Good Morning Monday! I hope you all had a pleasant weekend! I decided to post pictures on my photo blog again... "Hawaii Photos By Jen". I will be posting on there every weekend, of photos I took throughout the week. I also wanted to update that blog because Jesse, who is my Brother in Christ, is currently in Afghanistan, and I thought what a perfect way to keep him home while away from home.

Anyways, I have a Diaper Cake here to share with you. This was ordered by a customer that wanted this cake in a week. I don't normally do RUSH orders, but this one was for my MIL's co-worker. So, had to jump on it and get it done for good ol' mom, right?!

The 1st image is of what it looks like in the front. The 2nd is the back of it. This was a semi-pooh themed cake. I could've done more with creativity, however due to the "RUSH" status, I had to just put it together n' go!

By the way - I recently had an error on my computer, and for some reason am no longer able to use my Adobe Photoshop Element. I need to reinstall the program, but for the life of me, I cannot seem to locate the disk to do the download. In my desperate state, I decided to search online for a FREE editing software and came across "GIMP". The pics that I have here were edited on this program. I just wanted to share with you, for those of you that don't have any type of software to edit your photos. So that maybe one day you might be interested in trying this program out. So far, I am happy with it. I also created the "Aloha Fun RAK" button with it. So it's got pretty much the same feature of the Adobe Photoshop Elements - just not with the same price range. Which I am happy about. =0)

This last photo is of how the cake looked like after I wrapped in cellophane.

Family Tree Project

Phew! What a crazy weekend we here in Hawaii had, huh?. Tsunami warning turned out to be just that, and Praise God that we weren't hit by what could've been disastrous. Saturday was just a full day of waiting and watching, and being relieved when we heard that the warning was called off. Our prayers worked, so have yours!!! Well, while we were in the clear, the people of Chile are suffering, so let's continue to keep those of Chile in our prayers together with their families n' friends as well.



Here is a project that CY4 was to do for his Spanish class. He was to make a family tree. I helped him by painting the tree, sky n' the grass. He then printed pictures and noted info about each family member below their pics, cut each one out and put them in the place that they belong in. It was a project that took him about 1 week to complete. He had a lot of fun creating the tree, but mostly found it fun to learn about where each family member belong.

Here he is using my ATG gun to adhere the photos on to the board. We used a 3 panel board.


Here he is proudly showing his board. The lines for each family member has been drawn in to show their significant place in our family. CY4 is now 13 years old, and about 3 inches taller than me. **sigh** He's growing up, and I'm growing down... =0)

Large 5x7 Purse

This purse measures about 5 x 7 x 2. I had so much fun creating it!!

Requirements: Cricut X, DS Program, George cartridge....

To Make: Cut 2 of the Panels for Purse. Score on score dashes. Flip one, and adhere sides and bottoms. Cut Flap for purse on DSP paper, score on score dashes. Adhere shortest part of the scored flap to the back of your purse. Flowers are crumpled, and then inked. Layered from largest to smallest, and button for embellished look.

To make strap: Cut 2 matching cardstock strips of 1/2" each. Attach together but adjust to length of your liking. Cut 1/4" strip of matching DSP and layer on top of strap. Brads to attach strap to purse.

Frill is from Accent Essentials cartridge - you could really use whatever cut you want to, to decorate the front of this purse.

SCAL Gable Box

Awwww.... good morning friends!!! This week over at Stamp n' Scrap Hawaii, we are featuring Chalsie of Paper Kisses as our 2nd Aloha Blogger. Every other week, we will pick a blogger that creates, and blogs, and we ask her a few questions. She answers them, and shares a few of her creations. The next day, we share with you what this Aloha Blogger has inspired us, by creating something that we've seen off of her blog. Now, this can be ANYBODY that blogs. Right now, we are featuring those of Hawaii... but when we run out of Hawaii bloggers, we will be looking for others out there. So if you have someone in mind, and would like to challenge us in creating her projects, and featuring her on SSH, please email stampnscrap808@gmail.com to have us check her out and hopefully she'll agree with being featured. =0)

Anyways, after finding out that Chalsie was our featured blogger, I wanted to create some kinda box that Chalsie had. I wanted to use my Cricut, and wanted to make something that I could cut with my cricut. Well, I saw this gable box that Chalsie created, and I knew that it was what I wanted to create. But because I knew that it would take me more time to "create" it on my Cricut, than to put it together, I had to put much thought into this project. I finally realized that I could create it using my most recent purchase of the Sure Cuts A Lot program (Thanks for pushing me, Eunice!!!). Oh my goodness... what this program can do is totally OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!! There's just too much explaining to do about this program, but just trust me - it is awesome!!! For those of you that don't own the DS program because it isn't compatible with your MAC - this program is something you might want to consider.

With the program, I was able to create this gable box. I had SCAL cut it, and wha-la, all finish!! I put it together, and wow, how fun was that??! You bet, I will definately have more projects using the SCAL - and I can't believe how long I've put off from NOT purchasing it. I don't regret purchasing all those cartridges for the Cricut... this program is just another asset added to my collection of goodies!!! Yeeee haw!!!

What Have I Been Up To?!

Hello All!!! Well, if you are wondering just what I have been up to, oh gosh, so many things!!! I am still not done with the transferring of several products from the old LC's server, to the new LC's server. Man, it's driving me crazy, because I want to create!!! You just don't know how badly I wanna ink up a Magnolia stamp, and create with one. Infact, I think I am going to do just that right after this. A special thanks to all of you that have sent me "where you at?!?!" emails, and comments and checked up on me. Fortunately, I am alive n' kicking... just having a terrible time trying to juggle it all. I want to fit the fun stuffs in, but am finding that I'm fitting more of the fund stuffs instead. Anyways, along the way of transferring products over, I was asked by my good friend Mary Anne to help with her son's 1st birthday party favors. Oh My!! At first, she asked me for ideas... which I gave her, that was about 2 months ago. 2 weeks ago, she's back with, "I'm in trouble, party is in 2 weeks, and I still didn't make any favors". So I said, "girl, just give me what you going use, and just trust what I going make"... and she did. She stopped on by with 63 Animal Cracker Cookie boxes (why the heck is it called "animal crackers" when they are actually cookies, ya?)... anyhoos.... so she brought them by, and everything I had on my plate was cleared off (the piles of mash potatoes - everything...LOL), so I could finish off THIS platter first. So... here you have it... the favors that put my blogging on the bottom of my totem pole (at least for a couple days). Of course, I was doing all the norm stuffs... house, kids, oh and CY4 started school on the 11th, so now I drive him in to school, so that takes away from blogging too... tee hee... oh well, as Ellie says....I'm baaaaccccck... I think. LOL!!! I still have more moving over to do, so hopefully I can squeeze some creativity in there SOMEWHERE!!!!

Diaper Cake Enhanced...

Hey All... remember this diaper cake I made for my niece a couple of weeks ago? Well, she returned, asking for help to add more goodies, and make the cake look all special. I had another basket bag, so I thought that it would be awesome to put the entire cake in it, and wrap it up. At the same time, she wanted to add booties, and washcloths, and some other goodies, including a lil' doll to top the cake. It's a Precious Moments doll that speaks. But the funny thing is, it only speaks SPANISH!!!!! LoL!!!! Too funny, huh?

So after all the stuffing and wrapping of the entire cake, here is what it ended up looking like. I then had to take a picture of my niece and Cy, because they just needed to be in the picture holding the piece. Too Cute!!!!

A Tutorial: Baby Basket

Hello Sunday Crafters....

Ok, so my hubby gave me an assignment last week, it was to create a baby basket for his customer's daughter who recently gave birth. I was HIRED!! The best part was that there was NO LIMIT on funds as what I was to purchase for the basket. So I went all out - of course on his company's money. Making baskets are pretty much easy to do - but if you don't have the time, then getting someone else to do it for you is easier. I didn't get paid for this one, but the satisfaction of creating something fun was priceless. Anyways, the 1st photo shows all the goodies I purchased to stuff in the basket. Yummy huh?!?! I had fun, especially cause I don't usually have to shop for girly baby things.

So here's what I did... First, you gotta get a basket, and then stuff the bottom of the basket with a little newpaper. This is so that your basket will have a little cushion at the bottom. I then got some crinkled paper that I purchased (you can easily make your own if you owned a shredding machine), and I dumped the whole bag of the shredded crinkled paper on top of the newspaper, and spread them out evenly.

After I even out the shredded crinklies, the newspaper is no longer noticeable. It now looks pretty fluffed, huh? It is time to start loading up the basket. I start with the most rigid, and boxed like goodies. Stuffing at the back of the basket first.

Some of the items will need to be propped up higher to make the goodies fit, so I use tape on the back of some of the goodies, and tape them down. All I do is make the tape in a loop, creating a "double stick" type of tape. I love the type of tape I am using as shown in my photo - because this is the industrial kine. LOL!!! As you can see in the photo on the right how I propped up those baby clothes... sooo cute!!!



I then stuffed everything else that I had, working forward, and putting all the goodies in all the right places. Now comes the hard part. Getting the entire basket into this basket bag. You can buy this at Walmart - in the arts n' crafts section, just look for the basket section, and this should be around there. There are other bags where if you heat it up with a hair dryer, it'll compress, and really look nice and professional. Unfortunately, I grabbed the wrong type of bag, and got this one instead. It'll work.

After getting the entire basket into the bag, I took another photo again , it's a tight snug, but that's good. The part of the bag on the bottoms, I will pull back and tape down. So that it conforms to the basket's shape. I then add my ribbon. Sorry, the ribbon I have here is too skinny!!
Now to add a finishing touch - which is a lil' pink stuffed animal that I picked up. If you squeeze it's hand or tummy, it makes a cute sound. I thought i would make a great "bow". My basket is done. Ok - I hope you all have a great Sunday. I have to shut down and reboot as my Windows have updates. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Baskets From Jamie's Shower

Good Morning!!! Happy Monday!!! How is everyone doing this beautiful sunny Monday morning?! The sun is shining bright, and I'm ready to head out and run around down town. Hopefully I can drop off a few deliveries in town. We'll see if I am able to. Anyways, I wanted to share these baskets that we've decorated for Jamie's Baby Shower. Remember that scrap book I did about a week ago? You can find the entire album posted here. Anyways, a couple of weeks before doing the album, Jamie's mom Barbara, sister Christi and my stamping sister Corrina got together on a Friday night. We decorated these baskets that were purchased from J's Knicknacks. We used DS paper that was purchased from Ben Franklin's. Her theme was Winnie the Pooh, but more Eeyore. Barbara was able to find an adorable Eeyore that was pink, she found them at the Disney store, and were available during Valentine's. So, it was perfect timing, right??!?! Above is a photo of the baskets in a box, we actually made 12 baskets. We got together at 8 p.m., and were completed by 1 a.m. Of course in between we were talking stories, cracking jokes, and snacking on all sorts of junks. It was a fun night!!! So fun, I am thinking of having some gathering with the Angels on Friday eves, or perhaps a "Scrap Night"... I dunno, my wheels are still turning.

Anyways, what we did was pasted the DS paper to the basket using modge podge (you know I love this thing, huh?!?!?), then we went over the paper, giving it a seal and a glossy look. It's a good thing too, cause at the party, Cyrus tipped his cup of juice over, we were quick enough to pick up Eeyore - but the basket got the most of the juices all over it. But guess what?!!? We just wiped it off... no harm done!!! It was the best feeling ever. hahahhaa....

This photo is of the actual basket filled with goodies inside. Photo was taken on the day of the party. Ain't it so dang cute?!! You see that sign that says it "belongs to someone special"? I am happy to say that I was one of the "special someone" to receive such a basket full of goodies!!! Thanks Barb, Christi & Jamie!!! You always make me and my ohana feel right at home. We love you guys!!!!

Oh yea - and I had to share what kinda favors there were... too cute!!! Great idea... simple n' sweet!!! They did a fabulous job on the entire party set up. I took some pictures of us at the party, and will post them later on my family blog.
