Stages Of The Making of Money Leis

Aloha Gang!! Happy Tuesday. Today I am sharing some images of how I make money leis... I only took this 1 order this year, since I'm quite busy with visiting my grand baby, I didn't want to commit to too many personalized orders. However, these are for family, so I couldn't NOT do them, right?? Anyhow... here's how I create them...

Braid the leis with ribbon....

Fold each bill accordion style... 

Attach 2 bills together with tape and add a ribbon to the middle for decor. 

 Tie rosette flowers to braided ribbon leis...

 Completed leis... colors: Green & Gold... sent to Alaska. Congrats Elliott!!!!

ZIG Watercolor Brush Pen Tutorial

Aloha Gang... hope you're week has been going by well. I have been posting my creations to my FB pages, and keep forgetting to update my blog. I have to remind myself to just do it the same time I post to FB. I just feel like I have more to say or want to say more when I am blogging. But maybe I will just post the same things that I post on my FB when it comes to my blog. What do you think?

Anyways, today, I have a new tutorial up on my You Tube Channel today... tutorial is on how to use the Zig Watercolor Brush Pens, using RG Avenue stamp set "Love Notes" and RG Avenue "Black Taffy" ink pad. Lawn Fawn Golf Fathers Day Card and Clear Stamp Tip

Aloha Crafty Friends,

Today I am sharing some cards I made with Lawn Fawn stamps. These were made for Father's Day and I had a tip to share. I know seasoned stampers already know this trick, so this one is for the newbies. First pics of the cards I created. I had these up at my church's coffee shop. Scroll down for the tip...

Some clear stamps come with a film over it that doesn't allow it's first impressions to be fully stamped (like you'll have some blotch spots). Simply take an eraser, and rub on to the surface of your stamp image, and then wipe off, re-ink and try again. I find that I need to do this with The Greeting Farm stamps and Lawn Fawn Stamps, so far.... My picture shows the top golf cart stamped before the eraser rubbing, and the bottom pic golf cart is after the eraser rubbing.

Also for those images that you've stamped, and didn't make a clear impression, simply use a black marker to fill in the blotches. I use Black Tombow, Black Sharpies, Precise V5 Black Pens to fill in some spots. So far, these have not bleed when I've tried them.

Stencil Embossing With The Big Shot and RAK's

Aloha Friends,

I found this on the web... Thought this would be helpful for those that have plastic stencils or metal stencils that would like to use with the big shot, here is a quick guide on how to run it through your machine. I have yet to try it... 



Some other things I wanted to share were these handmade cards I received this past Christmas from my sweet crafty friends. These ladies are a part of my crafting circle and comes and crafts with me. Praying that this year I will be able to commit to a session with these ladies once a month!!!

Another handmade item I received was from my sweet friend, Lala. She and I have recently re-connected. I know a bunch of my crafty friends from back in the day remembers her. I think we lost contact for about 10 years, and now the Lord has brought her back into my life, just by her replying to one of my emails, checking to see if I remembered her. No can forget a sweet personality like hers. :)  This item was created by Kuroko Mori, you can find her on InstaGram under @kurokomari.

Baby Shower Card and Tutorial

This is my 2nd post for today. Please be sure to scroll down and check out my 1st post, it is of what I did during the weekend. Took lots of pictures, and made a lot of memories with friends. God is GOOD!!!! 

So for this baby shower card that I created, I first wanted to add a gold sprig to the card, but needed to make it white. Thus, here is where my short tutorial comes in....

Real easy... I decided to change the color by embossing WHITE on there, and this is how I did it!!!! SO FUN!!!!

1. I used a White Pigment Ink Pad. You can use any white pigment ink. Pigment ink dries slower, and because I wanted to add embossing powder to it, I needed the ink to dry slower.

2. I rubbed the sprig into the ink pad.... back n' forth!

3. I covered the sprig with white embossing powder.

4. Then heat set the powder unto the sprig using a heating gun.

That was it!! Pretty simple, huh?? Here is how my card turned out.... 

The triple ribbon was inspired by Richard Garay. Below I have posted a video that he shared to show how he makes his double looped ribbon. I simply added one more loop to make it a triple looped ribbon. Super Easy Peasy!!! Also, as you can see the gold sprig is now white (at least the outter parts of it).  I colored the image with ZIG Watercolor pens.

Video Tutorial: Using eCal and eClips Machine To Make Die Cuts for Stamp Images

This happened this past Saturday... I was working on my class cards for next week's class, and then I got side tracked! LOL!! Instead of working on my Stampin' Up! class, I was working on a Lawn Fawn project. Well, I wanted to make SVG die cuts for the stamp set called "Let's Roll". I had already did some of the stamp set, but wanted to do the entire set, and then I posted a completed picture of my SVG die cuts of the stamps together with instructions on how I did it. I then posted the pic posted below to the Sizzix Eclips and eCal Users group on Facebook. I was surprised to find that there were a bunch of ladies that were interested in watching a video tutorial on how I did what I did. So, I worked on a video! Haven't worked on a video in several months... it's been awhile. But I had a lot of fun doing so. So, scroll down to view my video and let me know what you think!!

Video Time Tuesday: Dryer Sheet & Parchment Paper with Die Cuts

Soooo... I was thinking I'd try and post my videos on Tuesdays and call it "Video Time Tuesdays". Hah! That's a catchy title, huh??  In my videos, I am trying to be true to myself, and keep most of the "struggles" on there, so you can see how difficult or how easy it is to create a video and just trying to be myself in my own element.  I'm a silly person.  I love to laugh and love to laugh at myself.  So, if you are the type that wants edited videos and needs to get to the point, I am warning you now, my videos are not for you.  LOL... but for those that don't mind the silly me, here is a video I made just for you on my 1st "Video Time Tuesday" day....  in this video, I share 2 videos in 1, first using Dryer Sheet with die cut and then Parchment Paper with die cut.  You will see how easy it is to cut using both, and how they are both helpful in getting your intricate cuts to cut out easily.  The die cut I cut out was cut and used in the project I posted yesterday.  So I hope you just kick back and take your time watching and enjoy!!!

Step By Step Tutorial of Graduation Nugget Cap Favors

Aloha!!!  I posted this to my Facebook... thought you would all like the step by step tutorial of this project as well... enjoy!!!

You will need:

- Hershey's Candy Nuggets
- Cardstock Strip of 3-1/2" x 1"
- 1-1/4" Square Punch (or cut squares at 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" if you do not have a punch).
- 4" of 1/8" Yellow Ribbon
- 1/8" Hole Punch
- Brads (w/prongs)
- Glue (I use Fabri-Tac for this project - Not Shown)
- Double Stick Tape (Not Shown)


Apply Double Stick Tape Adhesive to the entire one side of the 3-1/2" x 1" Strip of Cardstock


Wrap Nugget with strip of cardstock, starting point being the underneath of the nugget.


Continue to wrap entire nugget until it is completely wrapped around.


Take the 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" Square and use 1/8" hole punch to punch a hole in the middle. Use the points of the square edges to eyeball where the middle is.


Should look like this after punching a hole in the middle.


Fold the ribbon in half to make a "V" so that it is overlapping at the fold.


Use the 1/8" hole puncher to punch a hole near the fold of the ribbon.


Push the brad through the holes of the ribbon.


Now push the brad through the 1-1/4" Square - this creates the cap.



On the reverse side of the square cap, apply glue (I used Fabri-Tac)


Attached the square cap to top of the nugget... forming the entire graduation cap.


Project Complete!!!

Creating Hanging Flower Pots for My Yard and a Ribbon Hair Piece

Took mom to the fabric store today.... this was the first time she went there, and it was nice to see that she was so surprised to know that this store was so close to home!! I also dragged along two of my Sisters in Christ... Natascha* and Lucinda*. {{Names have been changed to protect their privacy!}}. Mom purchased some tracing paper.  I too picked up some tracing paper, and I was going to get me a tracing tool, but mom said she had an extra one at home to give me.  I purchased a couple of patterns and material to make a bag!!!  I can't wait to try them out and see how good my sewing skillz are!  Too Funny!!!  My mom taught me to sew when I was about 11 years old. I remember not really wanting to learn how to sew, because at that time, all I wanted to do was play outside with my friends.  But all I learned from her was pretty much how to straight stitch, and all I made was pot holders.  So using patterns is a new step for me, and I am praying that I will be able to figure that one out on my own!!  :)  I purchased a couple of patterns from WalMart, to make a scrub for my gf, *Lucinda, who is a nurse!!  Gonna see if I can sew that... because those are a huge hit in Hawaii at craft fairs!! 

Anyways, here's the bunch of goodies I picked up....

The pink material is for Lucinda's scrub.  The blue one is for the bag.  I didn't realize that both designs were the same!!  LOL...  Lucinda chose the pink one, and purchased it, while I picked the blue one for the bag!!  The bag I am going to try and sew is the one on the top. Hmmm... that should be fun!!

After dropping my mom and gf's off, I headed to Home Depot!!  Picked up some hanging plants, but purchased them in little pots.  Got 3 to fit in 1 larger pot.  After contemplating how I would show the plants (on the ground or by hanging them), I decided to go with hanging them.  But the pots that I purchased weren't hanging pots.  But I knew that I could easily transform them into hanging pots, using wire hangers!!!  So here's what I did!!! 

Supplies: 3 wire hangers, Crop-o-dile, Pilers and Cutter (The cutter shown here was NOT big enough to cut the wire hanger in half, therefore I ended up using a much stronger and bigger cutter later on).

I punch a hole on each side of the plastic pot, using my Crop-o-dile.

Take a wire hanger and cut in half using my extra-super-duper-cutter tool....  


Using my pilers, I bend the edges of the wire to make a hook that will goo through the holes that I've punched on the flower pot.

Thread the wire through the 1st hole.

Using my pliers I squeeze the end to the wire to close the gap.


Here is a look at the wire bended together.

Using my pliers, I bend the top of the hanger closer, so that it will have a hook that is not so wide.

 Here are my completed handing flower pots... I hung 2 plants under my tree!

The 3rd plant I hung near my front porch.  This is a spider plant.. isn't it so pretty??

Right below the spider plant sits these plants.  I don't know what these are called, but I purchased some from WalMart and the tall ones came from mom's garden.  Thanks Ma!  

 

Ok, so here's today's crafty project.  I used my mini-bowdabra to create this beauty.  I gave this hair piece to my gf for her grandbaby.  I need to make more!!!  My craft world is expanding... and having too many things to do is going to drive me crazy!!  Accckkkk!!! Nonetheless, it is enjoyable to create and very therapeutic.
